Who it is for
Students writing essays, application statements, papers or theses in English, including those for whom English is a second language.
What we work on
From a topic to a finished draft
Argument structure
Turning a topic into a thesis you can defend, and an order of points that supports it.
Planning
Outlines, paragraph plans, and the evidence each claim needs.
Clarity
Sentences that say one thing at a time, and cutting what does not earn its place.
Critical reading
Reading sources for their arguments, not just their conclusions, and citing them fairly.
Feedback on drafts
Comments that explain what to change and why, so you can revise the draft yourself.
How lessons run
We work on your own assignments and deadlines. You bring the draft or the question; we go through it together, and you revise between lessons. Over time the aim is that you need fewer comments, because you can see the problems yourself.
I don't write or rewrite work for you to submit. The writing stays yours; the lessons make it better.
Price
Arranged on request, depending on the length of the work and the deadline.
